The Anderson Island Summer Nature Camp is an annual event sponsored by the Anderson Island Park and Recreation District. Children that participate must be at least 5 years old and no more than 10 years old. The event occurs entirely on Anderson Island. The objective is to acquaint children with thier natural surroundings on land, fresh water, and in the marine environment using a hands-on, interactive approach to learning. At least 3 days are spent in the outdoors and the camp ends with an overnight campout. There is a high adult to child ratio with many parents participating, along with Park District Board members, teachers, citizens of Anderson Island and some technical experts in select professions for all or part of the event.
Dates for 2010: August 9-13 (the campout is the night of August 12th)
